Comments about my essay by reviewers:

"My favourite essay is Martin A Perez's Fashion from the future, or 'I swear, Computo Forced Me To Wear This'. It's written at the level of a great fanzine article - light, entertaining and insightful." Martin Gray, Too Dangerous For A Girl, 2008-10-15 (http://dangermart.blogspot.com/2008/10/teenagers-from-future-review.html)

"And what Legion tome would be complete without a piece on the Legion’s splendiferous sartorial style—so we get “Fashions From the Future, or ‘I Swear, Computo Forced Me to Wear This!’ ” (Err...sure, Cosmic Boy!). (...) Your "Fashions From the Future" chapter was a standout...not a small achievement given the overall high quality of the essays in this wonderful book! I loved how you described the Alan Scott Green Lantern's costume as having a "clear medieval/Graeco-Roman influence, with a dash of Middle Eastern flavor" and your likening Light Lass' 1960s garb to that of a Vegas showgirl--genius! Great essay--I learned and laughed, and who could ask for anything more?" Sharon Karibian, Two Girls, A Guy, and Some Comics, 2009-08-11 (http://twogirlsaguyandsomecomics.blogspot.com/2009/08/teenagers-from-future-more-legion-lore.html)

"Disco but no legwarmers please. 3.5 out of 5." Blue Tyson, Not Free SF Reader, 2011-04-25 (http://notfreesf.blogspot.com/2011/04/teenagers-from-future-essays-on-legion.html)
<------------------------------------------>
For 50 years, the Legion of Super-Heroes has occupied its own, vital corner of the DC Universe — and comics fandom. The Legion’s expansive cast, bizarre characters, futuristic setting, extended storylines, and elaborate continuity all set it apart from other super-hero comics.

This essay collection, from fans and scholars alike, is as diverse as Legion history. Essays examine significant runs (by Jim Shooter, Paul Levitz, and Keith Giffen); the Legion’s science, architecture, and fashion; the role of women, homosexuality, and race; the early Legion’s classical adaptations, teenage cruelty, and relation to the early Justice League; Lightning Lad’s death and resurrection; whether the Legion should be allowed to age; the Amethyst saga; the themes of the reboot Legion; and the so-called Threeboot’s relationship to adult adolescence and generational theory.
